The Samford University Office of Research is committed to the highest standards of integrity in fulfilling its mission to expand human knowledge and benefit society through research. This is accomplished by providing a range of services in support of all research activities undertaken by faculty, staff, and students at Samford University. Our activities include:

  • Providing central research administration from proposal submission, through contract development and negotiation, to project closeout with the services of the Office of Sponsored Programs.
  • Supporting a culture of ethical research and compliance by providing guidance and oversight in such areas as the protection of human and animal subjects, research integrity, and conflict of interest management.
  • Overseeing research policy, including research compliance, guidelines for faculty and student researchers, and other areas.
  • Advocating for student research programs and supporting efforts across all colleges and schools.
  • Creating opportunities through internal funding that aims to strategically stimulate new endeavors in research programs and scholarly activities.

Samford Pharmacy Students Earn Top Honors at Student Research Colloquia
On Friday, April 19, Samford University hosted its 3rd annual Student Research Colloquia in the Davis Library. McWhorter School of Pharmacy was well represented with two students, Justin Williams and Zachary Hagedorn, receiving top honors in the graduate and undergraduate categories.

Samford Public Health Student Garners Top Graduate Honors at Student Research Colloquia
Samford University hosted its 3rd annual Student Research Colloquia on April 19. Caroline Bennett, Master of Social Work candidate in the School of Public Health, presented her project, "Overcoming Vicarious Trauma: Resources Utilized by Law Enforcement Officers," receiving top honors for her research inspired by her own life experience.

Brock School of Business Student Research Facilitates Cross-disciplinary Conversations
Samford University’s Brock School of Business was well represented at the third annual Student Research Colloquia on April 19. The Research Advisory Collaborative, in partnership with the Office of Research, is a public forum where both undergraduate and graduate Samford students present their scholarship and research.

Samford Colloquia Celebrates Student Research
On Friday, April 19, Samford University hosted its 3rd annual Student Research Colloquia, held in the Davis Library. More than 90 students and student groups prepared poster presentations spanning 21 categories ranging from analytics to exercise science to social work.

Nine Samford students in Orlean Beeson School of Education and Howard College of Arts and Sciences presented their research at the 2023 National Conference on Undergraduate Research, April 13-15, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
